Arturo Alessandri C. the Executive Director of Alessandri & Compañía Attorneys at Law, deals mainly with issues concerning foreign investments, mergers and acquisitions as well as project finance, insurance, concessions and arbitration. He also advises a wide range of international companies as an agent of foreign companies and is the president and board member of a number of publicly and closely held corporations and non-profit organizations.
Following family traditions, Mr. Alessandri has worked in the public sector in Chile, first as General Counsel of the National Planning Office (ODEPLAN) of the President of the Republic Office (1979-1983) and then as Alderman of the Municipality of Santiago (1992-1996). He has also been a lecturer in many different social organizations and universities, including the Institute of International Studies in the University of Chile.
For the last fifteen years Mr. Alessandri has been an active member of the International Bar Association (IBA) and is currently the permanent delegate of the Chilean Bar Association before the IBA General Council.
Mr. Alessandri is a member of the Chilean Bar Association Council (1997-2013) and presides its International Relations Committee. Between 2000 and 2005 he was the president of the Chilean Mexican Integration Chamber. Since 1990, he is the Honorary Consul General for Singapore in Santiago and since 1992 he heads the Chilean Foundation for the Down syndrome.
Mr. Alessandri has also participated as a speaker and panelist in many of the conferences held by the international lawyer associations to which he belongs.
Mr. Alessandri's written works include "La descentralización y el factor regional en la Constitución Política del Estado", 1974; "La transferencia de tecnología: el Pacto Andino, estudio de un caso", 1975 and "The arbitration agreement in Chile", 1998.
