Central Bank of Chile eliminates Report
The Central Bank of Chile has decided, as agreed by its Council’s meeting N°1,157, held on October 14, 2004, to eliminate the previous favorable report required by article 11 bis of Decree Law 600, also known as the Foreign Investment Statute. Until this date, said report was an indispensable requirement for those foreign investors that wish to invest in Chile US$50,000,000 or more, and to use some additional benefits of the referred Statute on issues related to the return of export’s proceeds and the conversion into Chilean pesos of the foreign currency.
This resolution fits with the general régime regarding foreign exchange transactions currently in effect which establishes the free flow of capital investments into Chile.

| Banco Central de Chile elimina Informe
El Banco Central de Chile ha decidido, por acuerdo de su Consejo en sesión N°1.157, celebrada el 14 de octubre de 2004, eliminar el informe previo favorable a que se refiere el artículo 11 bis del D.L. 600, conocido como el Estatuto de Inversión Extranjera. Dicho informe favorable era hasta la fecha requisito indispensable para aquellos inversionistas extranjeros que pretendieren hacer inversiones en el país por un monto igual o superior a US$50.000.000, y que hicieren uso de algunos beneficios adicionales del referido Estatuto en materia de retornos y liquidación de divisas provenientes de exportaciones.
La presente resolución del Instituto Emisor se aviene con el régimen general en materia de operaciones de cambios internacionales vigente que consagra el libre flujo de capitales.
